Tozer IS an improvement on all of those CBs i named. Brings leadership to the backline and has a mammoth throw. Wrexham may have been in L2 but he’s a L1 player, just like Palmer, Mullin, Lee and the others they signed (some even Champ).

 

We want to improve what we have, Tozer isn’t the answer is my response as he’s no better. I personally don’t rate him, watch our game against Wrexham at their place. I’ve watched several of theirs this season and is generally in the game for one reason and it’s not defending is my take. Parky seems to think he’s not warranted a contract too. Cookie had him on toast if you watch the game at their place, even extended highlights. If others rate him I don’t have an issue but regard him as a backward step myself . I can’t be any more succinct really. Opinions eh?

He’s 34 now and Wrexham are looking at PL or Championship players to take them into the Championship, so its totally expected he’d be let go.

we are a bang average League 2 side with an inconsistent defence. He wouldn’t solve the pace issue but we need a leader at CM and a leader at the back, which we lack since Stubbs was dropped.

 

Apparently Some Stockport fans were speculating that Ryan Croasdale was signing for us a really strong tacking central midfielder competition for Smallwood

 

Not a contradiction because we want L1 players to improve on our L2 players , so no benefit to bring in another , irrespective what he did in the past.

 

Tozer makes Stubbs look quick and that's saying something. Not often Cookie outpaces a defender but he did with Tozer.

Tozer is exactly the type of player we need to avoid, i think GA will be looking for a moble back line, he will be worried about the lack of pace in the back line in the now current sqaud.

Enjoyed listening to the interview a little bit more insightful, he obviously wants the sqaud in place prior to pre-season which is something we havent had previously, we are usually pissing about with trialists and journey men into the season itself.

Be good to get a couple in that really make a statment.

 

Yes, a very informative interview.
He was very careful to speak in general terms most of the time but good to hear we are already talking to people.
We really need to address the chronic shortage of pace at the back once and for all.
None of this let's give it 10 games and see where we are this year, start on the front foot and lead all the way.

Croasdale officially released today. County fans still confident that he is joining us. Paddy Madden also released.

Yes, but Madden's form dropped off a cliff when GA came in. I can see him finishing his career at the club where he started in England, Carlisle.

 

Stockport fans love Croasdale. A big influence on their team all these years - especially last season.

If he comes in to challenge/offer an alternative to Smallwood then its low risk. It is not an exciting signing by all means, but could be astute. He has played his part in Stockports rise up the divisions and is only 29. A definate upgrade on McDonald anyway.

 

Watching Palace last night will Will Hughes was like rabid dog. Win the ball lay off...... that what we need and the Stockie lad sounds just the man....

 

Reading up on him, I'm getting Ricky Ravenhill flashbacks. Very solid L2 holding mid, will come in and know his role.

As you say, won't be a headline grabber but will be probably a huge get for the squad.

 

That young kid they nicked from Blackburn , Warton (?) was an ideal partner for Hughes.
